DomainLore .uk Auctions platform has seen a strong growth in 2010 and surpassed Sedo UK by generated auction revenues.
Since all Sedo UK auctions are being tracked by DomainLore already, it didn't take long to compare the performance of both sites.
I've pulled all 'sold' auctions by Sedo in Q4 2010 from the database. Since Sedo operates in 3 currencies, I had to convert EUR/USD sales back to GBP and used current exchange rate of Xe.com. Here is the break-down:
SEDO UK Auction Sales | October 2010 | November 2010 | December 2010 |
---|---|---|---|
£111,931 | £66,011 | £33,010 | £12,910 |
DomainLore .uk Auction Sales | October 2010 | November 2010 | December 2010 |
---|---|---|---|
£115,470 | £42,392 | £52,739 | £20,339 |
It must be noted that this comparison is based on:
a) Auction sales only (Sedo also does private buyer-to-seller sales, which never show up on the auctions)
b) A gross number of reported sales.
Since Sedo does not differentiate whether the transaction has succeeded and the domain name has changed ownership, it is not possible without additional setup to verify how many domains were in fact successfully sold by Sedo.
However, for DomainLore I have this figures and to give you a better picture I am going to share the amount with you.
Out of a total of £115,470 in Q4 2010, £110,652 was paid in verified sales.
I believe this is significant as it shows that not only DomainLore has beaten Sedo UK for the total amount of sales, but it also shows that DomainLore's verified sales amount is just about 1.3k short of the gross unverified Sedo's amount!
And because it's being constantly and widely reported how many sales on Sedo fall through after the auction, such a high percentage (95.8%) of successfully completed sales on DomainLore only outlines how professional the membership base is here and how effective are the measures to combat unobliging buyers from using the website.
